A gun scare just steps from the seat of American power ended in seconds — with the U.S. Secret Service pulling the trigger.
Officers shot an armed individual Monday near the White House after the suspect reportedly drew a weapon, according to a federal source familiar with the incident.
The confrontation unfolded near 15th Street and Independence Avenue — a heavily trafficked corridor just over a half-mile from the White House and within sight of the Washington Monument.
Uniformed Division officers engaged immediately after the individual pulled a gun, the source told Fox News Digital.

The suspect was believed to be alive and transported to a nearby hospital following the shooting.
Authorities moved fast to lock the situation down.
