During Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Vice President Kamala Harris said she made herself “very clear in 2020” that she would not ban fracking.

“Vice President Harris, in your last run for president, you said you wanted to ban fracking, now you don’t. You wanted mandatory government buyback programs for assault weapons, now you don’t. You said you wanted to decriminalize border crossings, now you’re taking a harder line,” moderator Linsey Davis said, teeing up the question.

“I know you say your values have not changed, so why have so many of your policy positions changed?”

“In particular, let’s talk about fracking because we’re here in Pennsylvania. I made that very clear in 2020. I will not ban fracking. I have not banned fracking as Vice President of the United States,” Harris said in her response.

Meanwhile, back when she was running for president in 2020, Harris said there was “no question” she was in favor of banning fracking.

Neither Muir nor Davis pressed Harris on the issue.
