Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma torched New York City’s democratic socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani as a “mayor playing president” after he released a video demanding action against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Kuzma accused the mayor of chasing viral content instead of doing the work his actual office requires.
“This is 2026. People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content,” Kuzma wrote on X while sharing Mamdani’s address.
“A mayor playing president. A founder playing operator. A content creator playing one-on-one, thinking he’s a pro. A 25-year-old with a ring light playing economist. Everyone auditioning. Nobody building.”
Kuzma argued that social media has created a culture in which appearing to accomplish something matters more than producing results.
“We’re raising a generation that is learning the reward isn’t in doing the thing; it’s in looking like you did the thing,” he continued.
“The clip is the career. The pose is the product. The soundbite is the substitute for a life’s work. Don’t fall for distractions.”

Mamdani had called Netanyahu a “war criminal” and “the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people” while urging federal authorities to execute an International Criminal Court warrant if the Israeli leader visits New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
The ICC warrant accuses Netanyahu of alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to the Gaza war. Israel rejects the court’s jurisdiction, and Netanyahu has denied the allegations.
Mamdani previously asked the city’s lawyers to examine whether New York authorities could enforce the warrant. He later acknowledged that City Hall lacks independent legal authority to arrest a visiting foreign leader and shifted his demand to the federal government.
