They didn’t always agree, but they remained friends for decades.
Fox News host Sean Hannity spoke at Lindsey Graham’s funeral service on Tuesday, sharing stories and insights on the statesman’s long career on the Hill.
“We had similar backgrounds,” Hannity said, sharing their common history growing up working in bars and pool halls.
“It’s amazing what life lessons you can learn living in that environment,” Hannity added. “By the way, not all of them are really good lessons – we laughed about it constantly and shared stories, always.”
“We could still curse like we were behind a bar,” Hannity joked.

Hannity also joked about having Graham on Hannity, and how he could have easily been fired for some of Lindsey’s wild guest spots.
“Lindsey does hold a couple of records that I don’t think will ever be broken. Number one was how freely he would use certain words – on my show, in particular,” Hannity said. “In this beautiful cathedral, I will not repeat them. But his first record was on how many different occasions those words would come flying out of his mouth. Number two was how many times he could say it in a single appearance.”
“Senator Graham was great for ratings…people listened to him…he drew you in.”
“For that, I was very grateful.”

Hannity also spoke about Graham’s steadfast commitment to Israel and how many mischaracterized the Senator as a “warmonger.”
“The truth was the opposite,” Hannity said. “Lindsey desperately wanted … a lasting peace in the Middle East.” Hannity said Graham possessed “moral clarity” and believed lasting peace could only come after “evil is defeated.”
“I will miss our late-night calls. I will miss our strategizing together. I will miss our dinners,” Hannity said.
“I’ll miss talking about the president and the country we both loved.”
