Former President Donald Trump may not have officially announced a run for the White House in 2024 —but if he does, he’ll be ready. Trump has more than $122 million in his war chest, $51 million of which was raised during the last six months of 2021.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “the vast majority of [the money] came from donations of less than $200 made online. The fundraising haul was less than he raised during the first six months of last year but still the most of any GOP figure during the second half of last year.”
“The political war chest is an unprecedented amount of money for a former president to wield as Mr. Trump seeks to maintain his hold on the Republican Party. The cash on hand total was about the same as the Democratic and Republican national committees reported to start 2022—combined,” WSJ adds.
Trump released a statement, blasting the New York Times for not acknowledging the milestone.
“The Failing New York Times refuses to acknowledge that the power of the Trump endorsement is far stronger today than ever before — it is virtually unblemished! Our Country can never be strong again unless we have an honest, open, and fair media and sadly, our media is largely fake and corrupt. The people of our Country demand the truth!”
