SEATTLE MAYOR: City 'Must Work to Dismantle Institutions' to Promote 'Equity and Justice'

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.25.20

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan weighed-in Thursday on her city’s ongoing financial struggles following the ‘CHAZ’ autonomous zone disaster; saying they must “dismantle Institutions” going forward.

“Our City is expected to dedicate $233 million this year to our COVID-19 response. As we take the opportunity to rebalance the 2020 budget, we must work to dismantle institutions that do not serve to advance equity and justice, and reinvest in true community health & opportunity,” posted the Mayor on social media.

“The City of Seattle has immense challenges ahead of us as we look to the 2021 budget – which I will present in less than three months – but I am confident that we can pass a budget that will advance true equity and opportunity for all our Seattle communities,” she added.

SEATTLE GETS SUED: Business Owners, Residents File Lawsuits Over ‘CHOP’ and ‘CHAZ’ Disaster Area

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.25.20

Enraged business owners and residents sued the city of Seattle Thursday over the failed ‘CHAZ’ social experiment; claiming local leaders encouraged lawlessness during the weeklong ‘autonomous zone.’

“Numerous Seattle businesses – including an auto repair shop, a tattoo parlor and a property management company – sued the city Wednesday, alleging city officials were complicit in allowing an ‘occupied protest’ that has made them feel unsafe in their neighborhood, according to reports,” reports Fox News.

“Organizers of CHOP — part of the widespread rioting and demonstrations that followed the May 25 death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis — said they sought to establish a ‘police-free’ area in Seattle’s Capitol Hill district,” adds Fox.

“Since we have no leadership and we have a city council that’s so socialist, there really is very, very little support for businesses,” said one owner. “As far as the city reaching out to small businesses like ourselves, or any business, there has been zero.”

SEATTLE SPIRALS: Police Chief Has ‘Epiphany’ After Visiting ‘CHAZ,’ Says ‘Policing Will Never Be the Same’

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.15.20

Seattle’s embattled Police Chief had an “epiphany” over the weekend after attending George Floyd protests; saying “policing will never be the same.”

“I was looking at the 60,000 people that were there, signs saying, you know, defund the police, stop police brutality, you know, no qualified immunity. And there were thousands of people carrying those particular signs,” said Chief Carmen Best.

“And I just realized it was a moment, an epiphany, that this is a pivotal moment in history. We are going to move in a different direction and policing will never be the same as it was before,” she added.

“We need to re-imagine and re-figure out how we’re going to move forward as a country and as an organization to make things better for everybody,” she said during the interview with “Face the Nation.”
