Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has issued a “call to arms” over the leaked SCOTUS opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade. Lightfoot says the Supreme Court Justices will come after the LGBTQ community next.
“To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community—the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms,” Lightfoot tweeted on Monday night. “We will not surrender our rights without a fight—a fight to victory!”
We will not surrender our rights without a fight—a fight to victory!

Lightfoot also sent a tweet promising to “fight like hell” to protect abortion.
Proud to stand side-by-side with fearless women leaders of Chicago. We will fight like hell to protect reproductive freedom for women here and across the country! #JusticeForAllPledge pic.twitter.com/65caG4d4HK

While Lightfoot is up in arms over the leaked SCOTUS decision, many are imploring her to direct her efforts and energy to tackling gun violence in the Windy City —at least 15 shootings were reported over Mother’s Day weekend.
“Lori Lightfoot just issued a ‘call to arms’ to her fellow radicals directly on Twitter,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) tweeted. “While people are being slain in her streets on a daily basis, all she can worry about is endangering more lives with her reckless words. Shame on her. She should resign.”
