California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill this week that will ban gas-powered lawn equipment in the Golden State starting in 2024.
“The law requires all newly sold small-motor equipment primarily used for landscaping to be zero-emission — essentially to be battery-operated or plug-in — by that target date or as soon as the California Air Resources Board determined it is feasible. New portable gas-powered generators also must be zero-emission by 2028, which also could be delayed at the discretion of the state agency,” reports the Los Angeles Times.
“Machinery with so-called small off-road engines also includes chain saws, weed trimmers and golf carts, all of which create as much smog-causing pollution in California as light-duty passenger cars, and reducing those emissions is pivotal to improving air quality and combating climate change, proponents of the law said,” adds the newspaper.
“It’s amazing how people react when they learn how much this equipment pollutes, and how much smog-forming and climate-changing emissions that small off-road engine equipment creates,” said Assemblyman Marc Berman (D-Menlo Park), creator of the legislation. “This is a pretty modest approach to trying to limit the massive amounts of pollution that this equipment emits, not to mention the health impact on the workers who are using it constantly.”

BIDEN in CALIFORNIA: ‘You Either Keep Gavin Newsom as Your Governor, or You’ll Get Donald Trump!’
Embattled California Governor Gavin Newsom and his team “don’t see a scenario” where the Democrat loses Tuesday’s recall election, projecting confidence despite close poll numbers against his Republican challengers.
“I don’t see a scenario where we’re not talking about a victory for the governor and a complete rejection of this appalling partisan power grab,” said Newsom strategist Sean Clegg. “I think what we’re seeing in our projections in the early vote is we’re performing so well we might reach a point where there’s not enough Republican vote left on the table for them to overtake us. We’ll let you know when we reach that.”
President Biden campaigned with Newsom on the eve of the election, saying the “eyes of the nation” are on the Golden State.

“You either keep Gavin Newsom as your Governor, or you’ll get Donald Trump. It’s not a joke!” claimed the President.
“The eyes of the nation are on California because the decision you’re going to make isn’t just going to have a huge impact on California, it’s going to reverberate around the nation, and quite frankly — not a joke — around the world,” Biden said.
“All of you know that last year I got to run against the real Donald Trump,” Biden said. “Well, this year the leading Republican running for governor is a closest thing to a Trump clone that I’ve ever seen in your state.”
Joe Biden has been visiting California disaster areas—and will soon visit the site of the largest man made disaster in recent history—Gavin Newsom. Note the following words are NEVER uttered: “Gavin Newsom has done a good job for the people of California.”#RecallGavinNewsom

Reporters from Fox Los Angeles published new photos of Gavin Newsom’s infamous dinner party on social media Wednesday; raising new questions over his apology and just how “outdoors” the event was.
“We’ve obtained photos of Governor Gavin Newsom at the Napa dinner party he’s in hot water over. The photos call into question just how outdoors the dinner was. A witness who took photos tells us his group was so loud, the sliding doors had to be closed,” reports Bill Melugin with Fox LA.
