The GOP thinks that money can be better spent elsewhere.
According to a report from Just The News, the newly-installed GOP House is readying a vote to repeal funding for more than 87,000 IRS agents —a Biden initiative that was included in the $740 billion dollar Inflation Reduction Act.
From Just The News:
The vote is expected to occur after the House votes on the new proposed rules package. For the legislation to be adopted, it would need to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate and be signed by President Biden.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said the House also plans to vote this week on a bill to form a committee on “the weaponization of the federal government against citizens” and legislation that would end oil sales to China from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) confirmed the news on Twitter over the weekend:
“THIS WEEK—The House Republican Majority will move to pass legislation to:
– Defund the 87,000 new IRS agents
– Establish a committee on the weaponization of the federal government against citizens
– End SPR oil sales to China
– Hold woke prosecutors accountable”
