NOT NANCY! McCarthy Takes Shot at Pelosi, Says He Won't Be Ripping Up Any Speeches at SOTU

New Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) assures Americans there won’t be any Pelosi-like theatrics when it comes to the State of the Union address on Tuesday evening. Famously, Pelosi ripped up former President Donald Trump’s speech back in 2019, sarcastically applauding behind his back.

McCarthy cleared the air on Twitter.

“A lot of people have been asking if I’m planning on ripping up President Biden’s speech tonight. Here’s my answer,” McCarthy tweeted along with the video clip.

“You know, I don’t believe in the theatrics of tearing up speeches,” McCarthy said, adding, “I respect the other side. I can disagree on policy, but I want to make sure this country is stronger, economically sound, energy independent, secure, and accountable.”

While McCarthy won’t be shredding any speeches, he did shred President Biden’s policies in a speech earlier this week, condemning Democrats for their epic spending spree which left America with crippling debt.

“Thanks to four years of runaway spending by the Democrats, they increased annual discretionary spending by $400 billion – that’s a 30% increase in just four years. They took our nation’s credit card, spent like crazy, and left us in deep debt. But not once did they seek or accept any responsibility. Instead, they doubled down,” McCarthy said.

“In 2021, Democrats passed the largest debt limit increase in American history,” he added. “Then, they maxed out our nation’s credit card again just 13 months later. Now, President Biden wants Congress to raise the debt limit yet again … without a single, sensible change to how government spends your hard-earned money. None.”
