Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself in hot-water this week for flying to Copenhagen, Denmark to deliver a 14-minute speech on the dangers of carbon emissions.
“It is unsustainable to continue to believe [in] our system of runaway, unaccountable, lawbreaking pursuit of profit,” she told the conference. “Our current logic created this mess and operating in the same way will not get us out.”
“I speak to you as a human being, a woman whose dreams of motherhood now taste bittersweet because of what I know about our children’s future,” she added. “That our actions are responsible for bringing their most dire possibilities into focus.”

AOC ON DC THUNDERSTORM: ‘This is Crazy… The Climate Crisis is Real Y’All’
Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weighed-in on the recent series of tornados that struck the Midwest before heading towards the east coast Thursday; saying the weather phenomenon is no longer “limited to the great plains” due to climate change.
“The freshman congresswoman began by sharing a video on Instagram briefly showing the conditions outside, as heavy rains drenched the region and prompted a brief, and rare, tornado warning inside the Beltway,” writes Fox News.
“They just issued a tornado watch in DC. Oh no, there’s people stuck outside. We need to get them out! This is crazy,” said the Congresswoman.
“Tornadoes are challenging to link to climate change links due to their nature (geographically, limited, acute patterns, how they form, etc.),” Ocasio-Cortez told her followers. “But we DO know that tornadoes HAVE been changing. They are no longer being limited to the Great Plains, and are shifting to other regions of the country.”
“The climate crisis is real y’all … guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country,” she later wrote on Instagram.
Meteorologist Ryan Maue was quick to point out the legislator’s error.
“The Congresswoman @AOC does not know the difference between weather and climate,” wrote Maue. “Let’s try an easy analogy: Weather is what outfit you wear heading out the door. Climate is your closet wardrobe.”

“I thought this was fake but it’s from @AOC Instagram story. No idea what she means with ‘casual tornadoes’ and how this line of severe thunderstorms is proof of any ‘climate crisis’. It’s just the weather in D.C,” he added.

Outspoken climate activist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke with world leaders on the issue of global warming Friday; saying her dreams of “motherhood” are now “bittersweet” because of our “children’s future.”
“I speak to you as a human being. A woman whose dreams of motherhood now tastes bittersweet because of what I know about our children’s future. Our actions are responsible for bringing their most dire possibilities in to focus,” said Ocasio-Cortez.
“I speak to you as a daughter and descendent of colonized peoples who have already begun to suffer,” she added.
