Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order Thursday demanding the release of a Dallas salon owner jailed for re-opening her business; calling her arrest “nonsensical.”
“Throwing Texans in jail who have had their businesses shut down through no fault of their own is nonsensical, and I will not allow it to happen. That is why I am modifying my executive orders to ensure confinement is not a punishment for violating an order. This order is retroactive to April 2nd, supersedes local orders and if correctly applied should free Shelley Luther … As some county judges advocate for releasing hardened criminals from jail to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is absurd to have these business owners take their place,” said Abbott.
The Supreme Court of Texas ordered the release of a Dallas salon owner Thursday after she was arrested for violating the state’s ‘Stay at Home’ order that closed her business for weeks.
“The Supreme Court of Texas has ordered the release of Dallas salon owner, Shelly Luther, who was jailed for violating executive stay at home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic,” reports CBS Dallas. “She’s currently in isolation and protective custody at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas.”

Luther was arrested and fined $7,000 for opening without the state’s permission has raised more than $200,000 online since the incident; vowing to defy the “unlawful order.”
“Shelley Luther is an American Hero that has decided to resist tyranny by opening her business against an unlawful State Executive Order. Her business, SALON A LA MODE offers services for hair and nails, microblading, permanent makeup, professional event makeup, braiding and more! Shelley and her team will likely face legal action, fines, and more during her journey back to freedom. She is doing what everyone else is only talking about, in a patriotic move to take back her liberty!” writes the website.

A NEW LOW: MSNBC Analyst Claims Trump’s Coronavirus Response Constitutes ‘Involuntary Manslaughter’
MSNBC Legal Analyst Glenn Kirschner left millions of users on social media scratching their heads this week; baselessly asserting President Trump’s Coronavirus response could be prosecuted for “involuntary manslaughter.”
“Trump’s conduct easily satisfies all 3 elements of involuntary manslaughter. In fact, his gross negligence is beginning to look more like conduct evincing a ‘conscious disregard of an extreme risk of death/serious bodily injury = the standard for depraved heart/2nd degree murder,’” he posted on Twitter.

Ohio Democratic State Rep. Tavia Galonski took her party’s war against the White House to a new level this week; saying the President should be charged for “crimes against humanity” over his Coronavirus press briefings.
“I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been to The Hague. I’m making a referral for crimes against humanity tomorrow. Today’s press conference was the last straw. I know the need for a prosecution referral when I see one,” posted the legislator on social media.
