John Fetterman needed just eight words to torch the socialist wing of his own party.
“Israel keeps killing Hamas members. @DemSocialists, cry harder,” the Pennsylvania Democrat wrote Thursday on X.
Fetterman fired off the taunt after the Israel Defense Forces announced that it had killed three Hamas operatives, including one accused of infiltrating Israel during the Oct. 7 massacre.

The IDF identified the first man as Abdallah Jahja, describing him as “a terrorist in the Naval Force of Hamas’ military wing who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 Massacre.”
Israel’s military said two additional Hamas members were killed: Mohammed Al-Hawari, whom it identified as a cell commander in the Zeitoun Battalion, and Sabhi Saqallah, whom it described as an observation operative in the same battalion.
“The terrorists advanced terror attacks targeting IDF troops & Israeli civilians,” the IDF said.
The battlefield claims were announced by the Israeli military and were not independently confirmed.
Fetterman’s response was unmistakably his own. The senator has become one of Washington’s most aggressive Democratic defenders of Israel, frequently breaking with progressives and democratic socialists who oppose Israeli military operations.
During a Fox News Channel appearance last week, Fetterman described DSA activists as “deeply anti-Israel” and “deeply anti-America.”
He also vowed that he would remain the strongest pro-Israel voice in the Senate Democratic caucus, even if that leaves him standing alone.
“I will always be the last man standing within the Democratic caucus in the Senate that’s pro-unapologetically standing for Israel,” Fetterman said.
“Israel is our special ally, and I’m always proud to stand with Israel,” he added.
That loyalty has become Fetterman’s red line with his own party.
Speaking at the Hill Nation Summit last week, the senator said he has no immediate plans to abandon the Democrats. But he warned that he would leave if the party formally transformed itself into an “anti-Israel party.”
