Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is ready to debate Democratic challenger Katie Hobbs —and she’ll make just about any concession to get her behind the podium.
Lake called out Hobbs during a recent event.
“The people in the liberal press need to demand that your candidate…show up and debate. The people of Arizona deserve this. I promise her, Katie, you can write the questions for me. I promise you I won’t yell, Katie. I promise I won’t interrupt you. If you want to have an emotional support animal there as well, I will agree to that.…but show up like a grown-up and debate,” Lake said.
“We have serious issues facing this great state of ours. We have the narco-terrorists controlling our border right now. How in the heck are you going to go up against them if you’re afraid to debate me here at PBS? How in the heck are you going to go up against Gavin Newsom when he’s stealing our water, and fight back there?”

Hobbs has continuously refused to debate Lake.
From AP News:
Hobbs has refused to share the stage with Lake, saying the Republican would turn the forum into a spectacle and embarrass the state.
The refusal to debate has been a major liability for Hobbs, producing weeks of negative headlines and alarming some of her supporters. The drama Wednesday ensures she will continue to face scrutiny over the debate decision despite her efforts to turn the page.
“What I’m focused on is talking to the voters of Arizona,” Hobbs told reporters during a campaign event Wednesday. “I’m not interested in being a part of Kari Lake’s spectacle or shouting match, and I’m going to talk directly to the voters.”
Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for Arizona governor, blasted a Phoenix PBS affiliate for scheduling an interview with her Democratic rival, Katie Hobbs, saying the move move makes it easier for Hobbs to avoid a debate. https://t.co/zxJqgQS0sw
