2024 Heating Up

HERE COMES CHRISTIE? Former New Jersey Gov Set to Announce Presidential Bid; Report

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.19.23

According to a report from “New Hampshire Today” host Chris Ryan, who cited multiple sources, former GOP Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie is preparing to announce his candidacy for President of the United States “in the coming days.”

From The New York Post:

The report notes that the Christie campaign will focus on New Hampshire and have the “financial backing” of billionaire New York Mets owner Steve Cohen.

Hedge fund founder Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served in the Trump administration, said Wednesday that he plans to back Christie in the GOP primary and also expects Cohen and other Wall Street execs to bankroll the campaign.

Cohen spent millions supporting pro-Christie super PACs during the former governor’s failed 2016 bid for the White House.

Christie has served on the Mets’ board of directors since 2021.

Christie launched a failed bid for president in 2016. After dropping out, the former NJ gov wrote the following message:

Running for president is the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever done in my life and I leave this race without an ounce of regret. I’m so proud of the campaign we ran, the people that ran it with me and all those who gave us their support and confidence along the way. Mary Pat and I thank our supporters for the extraordinary display of loyalty, friendship, understanding and love.

The campaign is over but the fight goes on. I will continue to fight for my belief that government needs to once again work for the people, not for the people who work for the government. I will continue to reinforce what I have always believed – that speaking your mind matters, that experience matters, that competence matters and that it will always matter in leading our nation.
