The era of American sea drones has officially arrived.
U.S. Central Command says it has carried out the first-ever American combat strike using unmanned surface vessels, unveiling a new chapter in naval warfare during an operation against Iran over the weekend.
According to CENTCOM, U.S. forces used multiple one-way attack surface drones to strike a submarine and ship maintenance facility at Iran’s Bandar Abbas Naval Base.
The military said three Corsair unmanned surface vessels were employed in the attack.
“Yesterday, using multiple one-way attack surface drones, CENTCOM forces successfully struck a submarine and ship maintenance facility in Iran.
