CNN contributor, former strategist, and podcast host Scott Jennings said fellow strategist James Carville may have had an emotional breakdown after gettings the 2024 election so wrong.
Jennings made the comments during an episode of Flyover Country with Scott Jennings this week.
“Honestly, I think he’s having an emotional breakdown. If anybody’s collapsing, it’s James Carville. The man’s been around for a long time,” Jennings said. “He did exactly one thing in his life, that was [to] help win the 1992 presidential election. And ever since, he’s been one of the more colorful political commentators.”
“But let’s not forget that in late October of last year, he was on the pages of The New York Times assuring the country, guaranteeing a victory for Kamala Harris for three reasons: Number one, he said, ‘Well Trump lost before, so he’ll lose again.’ Number two, Harris has more money,” Jennings continued. “And number three, he said, ‘Just my emotional instincts.’ So I think because he was so wrong, he has been in such a spiral ever since then that now he’s like perpetually trying to will into existence the collapse, if you will, of Donald Trump, or what have you.”
Carville recently predicted that the Trump Admin would collapse in less than 30 days.
“I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days [is] in the midst of a massive collapse and particularly a collapse in public opinion,” Carville told Mediaite’s Dan Abrams.
Jennings strongly disagrees.
“Trump has been one of the most stable politicians of the modern era outside of the dip after January 6th, which was real,” he said. “Otherwise, he’s a pretty stable guy. He doesn’t fluctuate much. His people stick with him. The people who hate him stick against him. But he doesn’t fluctuate that much.”
“So I just think the idea of a collapse here is wish-casting. They want him to collapse. I think James Carville wants the country to fail,” he continued. “They want these things to be wrong and bad. But I just don’t think it’s going to happen. And I certainly don’t think it’s going to happen within 30 days, which was his prediction.”
During a recent episode of Hannity, Fox News host Sean Hannity sparred with Carville over Trump’s success, Democratic Party missteps, and polling.
Hannity also went after Carville for predicting Kamala Harris would win the White House.
“We went with our seventh-string quarterback, and we lost by a point and a half. And we actually picked up a congressional seat. So if you’re asking me, did I think that she was going to win, and she didn’t win? Yes. All the polling showed it even. It turned out to be a point-and-a-half race,” Carville said.
