President Biden has once again tapped the strategic oil reserves in hopes of alleviating Americans’ pain at the gas pump. But it will likely have little-to-no effect on skyrocketing prices.
“President Biden knows inflation and gasoline prices are killing Democrats in the polls, and he’s scrambling to show he’s doing something about it. Except he still won’t do what would really make a difference: Take his foot off the neck of the U.S. oil and gas industry,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
Prominent GOP voices agree. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) hit the House floor this week to encourage completion of the Keystone XL Pipeline and expedited approval for energy-related permits.
“We should restart the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, overturn Biden’s energy leasing moratorium and expedite permits for pipelines and natural gas exports. […] The solution is very simple – drill, baby drill,” Boebert said.
