'DISSOLVE IT OR WE WILL': House and Senate GOP Members Intro Legislation to Shutdown Disinfo Board

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) and 50 co-sponsors have introduced a bill that will defund President Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board —or ‘Ministry of Truth’ as it’s called by conservatives. The bill would bar federal funding of the board.

“The Biden Administration’s decision to stand up a ‘Ministry of Truth,’ is dystopian in design, almost certainly unconstitutional, and clearly doomed from the start,” Johnson told the Daily Caller. “The government has no role whatsoever in determining what constitutes truth or acceptable speech. President Biden should dissolve this board immediately and entirely. If he won’t then Republicans will.”

Similar bills and actions are being discussed on the Hill, including by prominent GOP voices like Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).

“Biden’s so-called Disinformation Board is unconstitutional and must be dissolved immediately,” Hawley said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “This is nothing short of a censorship committee vested with the full powers of the federal government to monitor dissenting speech and opposing viewpoints under the guise of national security. The American people need a full accounting of who signed off on this Board and who approved such a radical, anti-free speech activist to lead it.”

Hawley is introducing a bill Wednesday that would immediately dissolve President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disinformation board, which includes removing the executive director position currently held by the new controversial director, Nina Jankowicz,” Fox News reports.

There’s also talk of the new board being legal —Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) wrote DHS Secretary Mayorkas a letter earlier this week.

“In a letter to Mayorkas Monday, Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) outlined a legal critique that could set in motion the board’s undoing — as the White House sought to tamp down public concern about the Big Brother-like panel and its controversial head, who has her own past of spreading disinformation,” the New York Post reported.

“Plainly, this DHS Disinformation Governance Board imposing significant constraints on the bedrock of American values and freedoms and new costs on the American people requires congressional review and may be a violation of the Antideficiency Act,” Hagerty wrote.
