Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez left New York voters scratching their heads this week; claiming “solidarity” with the Big Apple’s yellow cab drivers despite her staff routinely using Uber and other taxi alternatives.
Cortez lamented the plight of the city’s taxi drivers on social media last March following a string of suicides, writing “Yellow cab drivers are in financial ruin due to the unregulated expansion of Uber. What was a living wage job now pays under minimum.”
NYC's fourth driver suicide. Yellow cab drivers are in financial ruin due to the unregulated expansion of Uber. What was a living wage job now pays under minimum.
We need:
– to call Uber drivers what they are: EMPLOYEES, not contractors
– Fed jobs guarantee
– Prep for automation https://t.co/FjfapJV2ni— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 21, 2018
New documents released by the Federal Election Commission show between April and late June her campaign staff spent approximately $4,000 on Uber; an estimated 160 rides. All of the journeys took place in California.
The FEC has yet to release statistics for July and August.

CORTEZ CONFUSION: Cortez Cites PARKS, ‘Eating Sandwiches’ as 'Examples of Socialism'
Liberal superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez left American voters scratching their heads this week; bizarrely citing National Parks and eating breakfast sandwiches as examples of Democratic Socialism.
Cortez posted the strange comments on social media after returning from a “few days off” spent at Acadia National Park; citing the nature preserve and “supporting worker-owned businesses” as American “examples of Democratic Socialism.”
Back home after a lovely few days off enjoying US examples of Democratic Socialism, like:
– Acadia National Park
– Café Co-ops (Def Top 5 best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had 🍳)
– Supporting worker-owned businesses
– Bonus: Spotted a @PPact helping people, per usual✌🏽💜 pic.twitter.com/xmiYXutfpS— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) August 19, 2018
Cortez’ comments come just days after she came under fire for banning press and journalists from a series of town hall events; adding the speaking engagements were considered “sanctuary spaces.”
CLASS WARFARE: Ocasio-Cortez Says American Society Divided by ‘TOP VS DOWN’
Socialist superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez urged her fellow Democrats to “reframe” their message to American voters this week, saying candidates should no longer view issues as “left and right” but rather “top and down.”
Cortez made the surprising statement during a recent radio interview Monday, blasting West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin for “dropping $2 million” against a progressive challenger who still received 30% of the vote.
“That, to me, tells me that we need to start reframing our issues instead of left and right to top and down and it’s not about, like, oh, you know, ‘I have to whether my message to Republicans.’ There are people that really want to feel like there’s an unapologetic working class champion for them,” said Cortez.
