President Trump will travel to the ‘Sanctuary State’ of California Tuesday; visiting the US border with Mexico and inspecting various prototypes of his proposed wall while meeting with law enforcement officials in San Diego and Los Angeles.
The President’s trip comes as the war of words between the White House and statewide leaders rapidly escalates; with the Commander-in-Chief blasting the Golden State’s flat-out refusal to cooperate with federal guidelines regarding illegal immigration.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke with officials in Sacramento last week, frankly stating “California, we have a problem” after the mayor of Oakland warned illegal immigrants of impending ICE raids; resulting in nearly 800 undocumented workers who evaded federal agents during the sweeps.
“I mean, frankly, if I wanted to pull our people from California, you would have a crying mess like you’ve never seen in California,” Trump said weeks ago, warning there would be “crime like nobody has ever seen crime in this country.”
The acting Director of ICE Tom Homan echoed the President’s comments in recent days; equating Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf with “gang lookouts” who warn drug-dealers of approaching law enforcement.
The Los Angeles Police Department warned residents of prolonged protests and demonstrations during the presidential visit Monday; adding they’re “prepared for anything.”
CALIFORNIA CHAOS: DOJ to INVESTIGATE Oakland Mayor After ICE TIP-OFF
The White House confirmed this week that the Department of Justice was launching an investigation into a California mayor who tipped-off illegal immigrants of impending ICE sweeps; calling the left-wing politicians actions “outrageous,” reports the Los Angeles Times.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called-out Oakland, California Mayor Libby Schaaf Thursday over her decision to publicly disclose imminent immigration crackdowns throughout the Bay Area, telling residents to be on the lookout for federal agents within their communities.
“I think it’s outrageous that a mayor would circumvent federal authorities and certainly put them in danger by making a move such as that,” said Sanders, adding that her actions were currently “under review” to see if she violated federal law.
“The Oakland mayor’s decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased that risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens — making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda with the very federal laws that ICE is sworn to uphold,” said ICE’s acting director.
Oakland, like many other California municipalities, considers itself a ‘Sanctuary City,’ often shielding illegal immigrants and undocumented workers from federal authorities and border patrol agents.
CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Local Community FIGHTS BACK Against ‘Sanctuary’ TENT CITY
Local residents in southern California are fighting back against a two-mile long stretch of makeshift homeless shelters in Orange County; demanding officials crackdown on “human waste” and “used needles” that riddle the encampment, reports Fox News.
In stark contrast from local governments in Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Orange County authorities are beginning to clamp down on the tent city, describing the “illegal” housing as a major public health concern.
“It’s becoming part of the permanent landscape in those communities and there is no way we are going to allow Orange County land that is supposed to be used by residents to be occupied by the homeless,” said a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
In response to public pressure, the county council cleared nearly 25 tons of trash, over 1,000 pounds of “human waste” and over 5,000 needles from the camp.
The ACLU and other human rights activists have denounced the move, filing a civil rights lawsuit to stop the county’s crackdown after the decision was officially approved by the council.
‘That isn’t going to happen in our county. It’s not going to be our skid row,” added the Orange County supervisor.
