During Thursday’s White House press conference, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blamed the previous administration for the chaos currently taking place at the U.S. southern border: “we are fixing a broken system,” she says.
“Crossings are up, drownings along the border are increasing…the morgue is overwhelmed by migrant deaths. Do you feel like the situation at the border is under control?” one reporter asked KJP.
“So what we have been doing is doing the work that wasn’t done by the last administration. We are fixing a broken system. It is not like turning a light switch on. It will take some time,” KJP says.
