Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders distanced himself from a handful of 2020 presidential candidates on the issue of gun control over the weekend; saying mandatory firearm buybacks are “unconstitutional” and “essentially confiscation.”
“I don’t support — a mandatory buyback is essentially confiscation, which I think is unconstitutional,” said Bernie on the campaign trail in Iowa. “It means that I am going to walk into your house and take something whether you like it or not. I don’t think that stands up to constitutional scrutiny.”
“We cannot allow the NRA to dictate policy because they’ve intimidated [President] Trump and they’ve intimidated the Republican party,” he added. “I’m not going to be intimidated by them.”

Last September, then-candidate Beto O’Rourke fully embraced a mandatory buyback for certain types of guns across the United States.
“A gun registry in this country, licensing for every American who owns a firearm, and every single one of those AR-15s and AK-47s will be bought back so they’re not on our streets, not in our homes, [and] do not take the lives of our fellow Americans,” O’Rourke said.
Senator Cory Booker also supports the concept of a mandatory buyback.

BOOKER’S BUYBACK: Cory Booker Now Supports ‘Mandatory’ Gun Buyback Program Across the USA
Failing presidential candidate Cory Booker joined fellow Democrat Beto O’Rourke on gun control this week; confirming he would support a “mandatory buyback program” on “assault rifles.”
“Mandatory buyback or voluntary buyback?” asked the MSNBC moderator.
“This is another thing, to me, that’s just absurd… We’re talking about assault rifles. The overwhelming majority of Americans, over 75%, does not believe we should have weapons of war on our streets,” said Booker.
“You have a mandatory buyback program,” he added.

Booker managed to meet his last-minute fundraising deadline over the weekend; vowing to continue his quest to take-on President Trump in the 2020 race for the White House.
“Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-N.J.) White House campaign said that it met its goal of raising $1.7 million dollars a Monday deadline and announced the senator will continue his bid for the presidency,” reports The Hill.
“When we made the decision to be completely honest with folks about where we stood and what we needed to raise to put this campaign on a path to be successful, we didn’t know how people would respond,” Booker said in a statement.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response, and I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who pitched in. This moment is a testimony to the power of what’s possible when people unite in common purpose and work toward a shared goal,” he added.

BETO’S PLAN: O’Rourke Ready to Send ‘Law Enforcement’ to Confiscate Some Firearms
Failing presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke doubled-down on his mandatory gun confiscation proposal this week; saying he would be prepared to send “law enforcement” to recover specific firearms from US citizens.
“There will be people that don’t turn the guns back in. What’s the next step?” asked MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe.’
“In any law that isn’t followed, there have to be consequences… In that case there would be a visit by law enforcement to recover that firearm,” said Beto.

Sen. Cory Booker made similar comments earlier this month; saying the country needs a “mandatory buyback” program.
