RED, WHITE & BRUISED! UFC Takes Over White House as Trump Celebrates America 250

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.15.26

For the first time in American history, the White House transformed into a live UFC arena Sunday night as President Donald Trump hosted “UFC Freedom 250” on the South Lawn during celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The unprecedented event also coincided with Trump’s 80th birthday and drew thousands of fight fans to the White House complex despite looming storm threats.

An octagon cage was set up beneath a massive canopy known as “The Claw,” where mixed martial artists battled in front of a packed crowd and a high-profile guest list that included Meta CEO Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The night culminated with American fighter Justin Gaethje defeating Georgian-Spanish star Ilia Topuria to capture the undisputed UFC lightweight championship in the evening’s main event.

Trump sat cageside for the fights and personally congratulated Gaethje afterward with a handshake inside the arena area.

Fans unable to enter the main venue gathered nearby on the Ellipse, while UFC partnered with bars and viewing locations across Washington to stream the event.

Several fighters openly praised the president throughout the night. Fighter Bo Nickal thanked Trump directly during post-fight remarks.

But the event also generated controversy after heavyweight champion Josh Hokit used a post-fight interview to insult former first lady Michelle Obama after presenting Trump with a chain following his knockout victory.

The remarks quickly sparked backlash online and were condemned by critics of the president.

The main card streamed on Paramount+, which is owned by Paramount Skydance, the parent company of CBS News.

Following the conclusion of the fights, Trump departed Washington and traveled to France ahead of the upcoming G7 Summit with world leaders.

“The UFC at the White House last night was incredible. The weather was scheduled to be horrendous, and it turned out to be PERFECT! So much for weather predicting,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday morning.

“The White House has never looked more beautiful. The setting was unsurpassed!”
