NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman captured remarkable video of Earth disappearing behind the Moon during the Artemis II spacecraft’s lunar flyby. The footage, shot with an iPhone on April 6, 2026, shows the planet slowly vanishing over the lunar horizon as seen from the orbiting vehicle.
Wiseman described the scene as a “once in this lifetime” moment, comparing it to viewing a sunset from the most distant seat in the cosmos. The images powerfully illustrate Earth’s isolation against the Moon’s stark landscape and the blackness of space.
