Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) erupted Sunday, telling supporters at a Queens rally that Americans who call her and mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani “crazy” just don’t get it.
Speaking at Mamdani’s “New York Is Not for Sale” event at Forest Hills Stadium, AOC shouted, “We must remember in a time such as this, we are not the crazy ones, New York City. We are not the outlandish ones, New York City. They want us to think we are crazy.”
She then pivoted into her trademark left-wing sermon, blasting Israel and calling for massive government expansion.
“We are sane to demand affordable and decent housing, a decent wage, the right to health care, that we pay to care for our people instead of the flattening of Palestinians and oppressed people abroad.”

When Governor Kathy Hochul — who has endorsed Mamdani — took the mic, the crowd erupted with chants of “Tax the rich!” Hochul smiled and said, “I hear you, I love to see this energy and this passion.”
Mamdani jumped in with a grin: “Hell, yeah. Obviously.” Moments later, he thundered,
“Our work has only just begun. On 4 November, we set ourselves free.”
AOC’s “crazy” pitch comes as she doubles down on her long-time socialist wish list — a 70 percent marginal tax rate on the wealthy, tuition-free college, student-debt cancellation, the multi-trillion-dollar Green New Deal, Medicare for All (estimated to cost $30–40 trillion over ten years), and nationwide rent control that experts warn would strangle new housing construction.
And after Ocasio-Cortez joined Sen. Bernie Sanders at a CNN town hall earlier this month to rip House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) over the government shutdown, Johnson clapped back on Fox News.
“With every ounce of Christian character that I can muster, let me just say, bless her heart. This would be comical if it were not so dangerous. You’re looking at the two leaders of the modern Democratic Party. We say all the time, ‘This is not your father’s party.’ It’s not. These guys are full Marxists. You hear how vapid their ideology is; what empty suits they are.”
