Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz annihilated Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday; the Sunshine Rep. wouldn’t let Mayorkas dodge his questions.
“Two million people encountered and released…how many of those people have you deported?” Gaetz asked Mayorkas.
“Congressman, a few points. Number 1…” Mayorkas said before Gaetz cut him off.
“Just how many of the people? HI just want to know many? Just a number?” Gaetz fired back.
“We are dealing with a completely broken immmigation system…” Mayorkas started to say.
“Mr. Secretary, I’m not going to let you burn my five minutes!” Gaetz said.
“The Mayorkas Doctrine is this: if you show up at the border and get released into the country, if you dont commit a specific aggrevated felony…you get to stay forever,” Gaetz continued.
