WARREN: Any Coronavirus Relief Package Must Include ‘Student Loan Debt Cancellation’

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.17.20

Failed presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren doubled-down on her call for student debt relief Tuesday; saying any Coronavirus relief package must include debt forgiveness for “millions of families” across the country.

“Student loan debt cancellation MUST be a part of the next emergency coronavirus package to deliver relief immediately to millions of families and remove a giant weight that’s dragging down our economy. Senate and House progressives are in this fight all the way,” posted Warren on social media.

The Trump administration and Congressional leaders are considering an $850 billion stimulus package in the coming days to offset the economic fallout associated with the global Coronavirus outbreak.

“White House officials and congressional lawmakers are signaling they will attempt to push through a third coronavirus spending package worth hundreds of billions of dollars even as the Senate works to move along the more modest second relief bill that focuses on leave for workers and expedited testing for the disease officially known as COVID-19,” reports Fox News.

“Roughly $500 billion of this would be tied to a payroll tax cut, while $250 billion would come in the form of Small Business Administration loans and another $58 billion would be directed to the airline industry, among other measures,” adds Fox.

“I’m not going to comment on the numbers now. But it’s a big number,” Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told reporters Monday night.

“As early as tomorrow, I will present a series of proposals to Congressional appropriators that Senate Democrats believe should be part of the next bill to address the coronavirus,” Schumer said in floor remarks Monday. “In consultation with the ranking members of the committees of jurisdiction, we are proposing an immediate and initial infusion of at least $750 billion to wage war against COVID-19 and the economic crisis it is now causing.”

AOC: US Needs ‘Climate Transition, Free Education, Healthcare, Apprenticeships’ to Combat Coronavirus

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.16.20

Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weighed-in Monday on the country’s efforts to combat the effects of Coronavirus; calling for “climate transition,” education expansion, free healthcare, and apprenticeships to offset the disease.

“What we should seriously start to consider now for the medium & long term (bc it will take time) is New Deal-style policy. We need a mix of policies to help put a lot of people to work. Climate transition, edu expansion w/ apprenticeships & colleges, M4A. These are jobs bills,” posted AOC on social media.

Her comments come hours after NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announce a citywide shutdown on all theaters, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to prevent new infections.

“Mayor Bill de Blasio announced late Sunday that the Big Apple’s nightlife will shut down and its restaurants and bars will only provide takeout or delivery service as authorities struggle to get ahead of the mounting coronavirus pandemic,” reports the NY Post.

Businesses have until 9am Tuesday morning to close their dining rooms to patrons. The move also applies to Starbucks, McDonalds, and other quick-service restaurants.

“Our lives are all changing in ways that were unimaginable just a week ago,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“We are taking a series of actions that we never would have taken otherwise in an effort to save the lives of loved ones and our neighbors,” he added.

“This virus can spread rapidly through the close interactions New Yorkers have in restaurants, bars and places where we sit close together,” de Blasio’s statement said. “We have to break that cycle.”
