VP HARRIS: US Must Address ‘Root Causes of Migration,’ Help ‘Improve Conditions’ in Latin America

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.31.21

Vice President Kamala Harris continued to deflect criticism of the Biden administration’s disastrous border policy; saying the US must work to address the “root causes of migration” by helping to “improve conditions” in Latin America.

“I spoke with President Giammattei of Guatemala today to discuss coordinated action to address the root causes of migration to the United States, and to develop and put in place innovative solutions that improve conditions for people in their home countries,” posted Harris on Twitter.

Footage surfaced on social media Wednesday of another group of migrants departing Central America towards the United States as the crisis along the southern border continues to spiral out of control.

“Caravan of hundreds of migrants from Honduras start their journey to the United States,” posted The Hill on Twitter.

From Fox News:

A rancher from New Mexico told “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday that migrants have been getting “fairly close” to her house, even asking for food and water, amid the surge in illegal crossings at the U.S. southern border.

Amanda Adame noted that she gives them food and water because they “don’t want to get hurt.” She added that she typically calls Border Patrol when she sees migrants on her property.

Adame also pointed out a difference between the behavior of the migrants under the Biden administration and the Trump administration.

“When they [migrants] saw a border agent before, they stopped and they waited and now they keep trying to go,” Adame said, noting that Border Patrol agents “catch them when they see them,” but said the “big problem” is the migrants aren’t always found.

Biden has scrapped a number of Trump’s policies, which included having asylum seekers remain in Mexico instead of staying in the U.S. while they wait for their cases to be heard.

More than 15,000 unaccompanied migrant minors are in custody at federal facilities, according to recent reports. U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported encounters with more than 100,000 migrants (minors and otherwise) in February alone.

When asked what her biggest concern is Adame said, “Now that the border policy has changed, what’s going to happen now?”

“What is he [President Biden] going to do with stopping asylum seekers?” she went on to ask. “I just feel sad for the people who are trying to come in legally and they can’t because of all these asylum seekers.”

Adame made the comments one day after White House officials said Vice President Kamala Harris will play a “diplomatic” role in addressing the migrants surge.

BIDEN’S BIG TAB: White House Plan to Put Immigrants in Motels to Cost $284K for a Family of Four

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.31.21

Senator Marsha Blackburn ripped the Biden administration’s approach to immigration in a scathing letter this week; blasting the White House’s plan to place migrants in motels at a cost of $280,000 for a family of four.

“The Biden administration, earlier this month, awarded ICE an $86.9 million contract through Texas-based nonprofit Endeavors for hotel rooms near the border to provide temporary shelter and processing services for families who have been expelled from the United States but have been placed in immigration proceedings for their removal,” reports Fox News.

“This raises questions if half of the $86.9 million in ICE contract proceeds will likewise be allocated toward employee and executive compensation instead of migrant services or housing,” Blackburn wrote.

“As the current contract stands, the cost to taxpayers for housing 1,200 migrant families for six months is about $71,000 per person,” Blackburn wrote. “For a family of four, that amounts to a shocking $284,000 — enough to buy a small house.”

The Biden administration is reportedly preparing a $1 trillion tax hike to help finance the White House’s latest policy push including immigration, CoVID, infrastructure, climate change, and income inequality.

“When President Joe Biden’s team began putting together his infrastructure and jobs package this February, the White House National Economic Council circulated an internal proposal calling for about $3 trillion in new spending and $1 trillion in new tax hikes, according to three people with knowledge of the matter,” reports the San Diego Union Tribune.

“The choice to limit the impact on the federal deficit may help the White House counter critics who say that the nation’s spending imbalance is out of control. But it also sets up the administration for an enormous political challenge in convincing Congress to pass a package of tax increases on wealthy Americans and companies that together would represent the largest tax hike in generations,” adds the newspaper.

Biden is poised to unveil another $3 trillion in new federal spending this week to focus on Infrastructure; allocating the cash to help rebuild roads but also fight “climate change and income inequality.”

“The president is expected to introduce up to $3 trillion in spending on efforts to boost the economy, including rebuilding aging infrastructure like highways, bridges and rail lines, and investing in technologies to reduce planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions,” reports CNBC.

“The package may be split between two bills, starting with legislation that incorporates Biden’s Build Back Better agenda and supports his goal to achieve carbon-free power generation by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2050,” adds the website.

“Electrifying America’s cars and trucks, creating a nationwide smart grid, expanding electricity storage to allow more renewable energy, establishing universal high speed internet — all of these are intended to boost the productivity and competitiveness of the economy, while also cutting emissions,” said one advisor.

“We cannot just settle for what we can agree on without recognizing that this has to be a bill for the future, that we have to recognize the climate crisis,” Nancy Pelosi told reporters.

Biden to Allow 25,000 Asylum Seekers into the USA at the Southern Border

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.14.21

A new report from the Associated Press confirmed Friday that President Joe Biden will allow at least 25,000 asylum seekers into the US from his predecessor’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ program.

“The Biden administration on Friday announced plans for tens of thousands of people who are seeking asylum and have been forced to wait in Mexico under a Trump-era policy to be allowed into the U.S. while their cases wind through immigration courts,” reports the Associated Press.

“The first wave of an estimated 25,000 asylum-seekers with active cases in the ‘Remain in Mexico’ program will be allowed into the United States on Feb. 19, authorities said. They plan to start slowly, with two border crossings each processing up to 300 people a day and a third crossing taking fewer numbers. Officials with President Joe Biden’s administration declined to name them out of fear they may encourage a rush of people,” adds the agency.
