UPDATE: Hurricane Dorian Creeps North, Threatens Carolina Coast, Charleston Floods

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.05.19

Hurricane Dorian slowly crept north Thursday off the coast of South Carolina; bringing tropical storm force winds, heavy rain, and flooding throughout Charleston and the surrounding area.

“The nearly deserted rain-lashed streets of Charleston, South Carolina, began to disappear beneath water on Thursday, as Hurricane Dorian churned a few dozen miles offshore after reducing parts of the Bahamas to rubble,” reports Reuters.

“The water pooled in streets a few inches deep near the centuries-old waterfront. In certain low-lying blocks, it rose up to a foot, with high tide still hours away and forecasters warning of storm surges of up to 8 feet (2 meters),” adds the website.

Dorian devastated parts of the Bahamas earlier this week; submerging some islands in the archipelago more than 70%.

“Hurricane Dorian carved a path of destruction through the Bahamas and relief officials on Tuesday were preparing for a humanitarian crisis after one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the islands killed at least five people, with the scale of the disaster as yet unknown,” reports Reuters.

“Right now there are just a lot of unknowns,” Parliament member Iram Lewis said. “We need help.”

“We are in the midst of one of the greatest national crises in our country’s history,” said Prime Minister Hubert Minnis.

“The devastation is unlike anything that we’ve ever seen before,” added the National Security Minister. “We’re beginning to get on the ground, get our people in the right places. We have a lot of work in the days and weeks and months ahead.”

“The U.S. may be getting a little bit lucky with respect to Hurricane Dorian, but please don’t let down your guard. As it heads up the coast, lots of very bad and unpredictable things can happen! On the other hand, the Bahamas have been devastated. We are sending crews to help!” posted the President on social media.

DORIAN STALLS: Hurricane Dorian Downgraded to Category 2, Slams Bahamas for 36 Hours

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.03.19

Hurricane Dorian was downgraded to a Category 2 storm Tuesday afternoon; hovering over the Bahamas for more than 36 hours as it slowly makes its way towards the Atlantic coast of the United States.

Hurricane Dorian, the monster of a storm that’s pummeled parts of the Bahamas for the past 36 hours, has been downgraded to a Category 2 storm as it finally starts to inch away from Grand Bahama — but the storm is showing signs it’s growing before taking aim at the Southeast,” reports Fox News.

Dorian is currently 100 miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida traveling at 2mph.

“The headline for this #Dorian advisory is NOT that the wind speed has slightly decreased. The combined wind, surge, and floods hazards are the same or even worse since the hurricane has become larger. Full advisory: http://hurricanes.gov,” posted the National Hurricane Center.

'APOCALYPTIC': Extent of Hurricane Dorian’s Damage Emerges in the Bahamas, Rescue Efforts Underway

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.04.19

The “apocalyptic” damage inflicted on the Bahamas by Hurricane Dorian began to emerge Wednesday; with rescue crews arriving after the powerful storm stalled over the island chain for nearly 40 years.

On the other hand, the Bahamas have been devastated. We are sending crews to help!” posted the President on social media.

The storm is currently moving northwest off the Florida coast and could strike North Carolina by midnight.
