President Trump spoke with Fox News’ Sean Hannity along the porous US-Mexico border in Texas Thursday; saying it’s simply “common sense” that a physical barrier would help Border Patrol Agents do their jobs and prevent drugs from entering the country.
“They are incredible people. We’ve just spent some time together, we had a meeting, and it’s incredible the job they do. We really appreciate it,” said the Commander-in-Chief.
“They have a tremendous amount of drugs they just captured. If we had a barrier, a steel barrier or a concrete barrier, call it whatever you want, we wouldn’t have the problem… It’s common sense, it really is,” he added.

DEVELOPING: Pentagon ‘Reviewing Options’ for Wall Construction Should Trump Declare ‘Emergency’
The Department of Defense is currently reviewing options for border wall construction along the US-Mexico border; preparing a potential game-plan should President Trump declare a “national emergency” for the region.
“The Pentagon is preparing options to build barriers on the southern border in the event that President Donald Trump declares a national emergency there, the latest indication such a move is gaining traction within the administration,” writes USA Today.
“The Department of Defense is reviewing available authorities and funding mechanisms to identify options to enable border barrier construction,” said Navy Capt. Bill Speaks, a Pentagon spokesman. “As there has not been such a declaration made, it would be inappropriate to comment further on those efforts.”
President Trump landed in Texas Thursday to meet with local officials and federal agents with first-hand knowledge of the escalating crisis along the US-Mexico border.

ENOUGH: Trump Considers Declaring ‘National Emergency’ to Secure Border Wall Funding
President Trump took his ongoing budget battle with congressional Democrats to the next level this week; saying he may “declare a national emergency” to secure funding for his signature campaign promise: a border wall between the US and Mexico.
The President was speaking with journalists outside the White House Friday moments after a high-stakes meeting with Sen. Chuck Schumer; saying he may build the wall for “national security” if we can’t “do it through a negotiated process.”

“We can call a national emergency [to build a border wall] because of the security of our country,” Trump told reporters. “I may do it. If we can do it through a negotiated process, we’re giving it a shot.”
