Senator Amy Klobuchar heaped praise on the group of Texas Democrats who fled the state to block an impending voting integrity law; calling the lawmakers “freedom fighters” who went to Washington to “seek salvation.”
“We stand here with these people of courage, with freedom fighters who came to Washington D.C. to seek salvation because they are not going to be able to get that governor of Texas to protect the voting rights of the people,” said the Senator.
“Instead of trying to make it easier for people to vote, the Republicans have done everything to make it harder, including threatening these legislators. They are standing their ground,” she added.
“We know what the Texas bill would do. This is going on all over the country,” concluded the Democrat.

“Ms. Klobuchar will appear with Mr. Biden at his rally in Dallas Monday night. The decision comes one day after former Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., departed the race, and after weeks of Democratic Party hand-wringing about a crowded field of moderate candidates splitting a finite field of centrist votes, allowing Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont to march forward unopposed among progressives and amass delegates,” adds the Times.
