At least sixteen House Democrats have signed an official letter this week that seeks to block House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi from retaking the gavel; calling for fresh leadership after the highly-contested 2018 midterm elections.
“Our majority came on the backs of candidates who said that they would support new leadership because voters in hard-won districts, and across the country, want to see real change in Washington. We promised to change the status quo, and we intend to deliver on that promise,” said the statement.

Pelosi currently needs 218 votes from lawmakers to be elected as Speaker of the House. Democrats will soon control 233 seats, meaning Pelosi can only lose 15 legislators in her fight to regain control.
DEMOCRAT CHAOS: Top Democrat RIPS Pelosi’s ‘WHITE GUYS’ Comment
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi raised eyebrows within her own party on Thursday, drawing fire from top Democrats after she “offensively” referred to the bipartisan group of legislators tackling immigration reform as “white guys.”
The House Minority Leader made her incendiary remarks while speaking with reporters at her weekly press briefing, labeling lawmakers seeking to find a permanent solution to DACA as “the five white guys.”
“The five white guys I call them, you know,” Pelosi quipped, complaining that there were not enough minorities involved in the immigration debate. “Are they going to open a hamburger stand next or what?”
Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer –one of Pelosi’s “white guys”- blasted the leader’s comments, calling the remarks “offensive” in a statement released to Politico.
“That comment is offensive. I am committed to ensuring DREAMers are protected and I will welcome everyone to the table who wants to get this done,” Hoyer said.
A spokesperson for the House Minority Leader pushed back against Hoyer’s comments, saying, “Leader Pelosi has every confidence in the leadership of Whip Hoyer and Senator Durbin, which they have demonstrated on this topic for years.”
FOX NEWS: Democrats to Retake the US House of Representatives, Margin Unclear
Fox News can now project that the Democratic Party will retake control of the United States House of Representatives.
“Democrats will retake control of the House of Representatives,” posted Fox Election Headquarters.
“The projected win by Democrats will be the first time they’ve controlled the House in eight years. Their gain deals a major setback to President Trump’s legislative agenda and could potentially open the door to investigations into Trump and his administration, including a possible impeachment. Although the exact size of the Democratic majority is not yet clear, Democrats will soon have to decide whether to restore Nancy Pelosi to her old job as Speaker of the House,” adds the forecast.
