THE HEART OF TEXAS: Cruz Talks Inspirational Rescue Efforts Amid Fallout From Floods [WATCH]

“We will come through this.”

Texas Senator Ted Cruz stopped by Hannity Wednesday night to discuss the devastating Texas floods that claimed the lives of more than 100 Americans, including many at a Christian girls’ summer camp.

More than 200 people are still declared missing as rescue efforts continue.

But while the devastation has been horrific, the way Americans have come together for search and rescue efforts has been inspirational.

“As horrifying as this was, it was also inspirational,” Cruz said. “Within hours, we had more than a dozen helicopters in the air, Coast Guard, National Guard, Texas DPS — they performed more than 850 highwater rescues,” Cruz said.

“I met with a Coast Guard swimmer Scott Ruskan — he is credited with 165 rescues. They landed him at Camp Mystic,” Cruz continued. “He spent three and a half hours as they lifted those girls out of that camp.”

Cruz continued: “When I talked to Scott Ruskan, he told me he’d just gotten off the phone with the mom and dad of a little girl who called him to say, ‘you’ve saved our daughter’s life.'”

Cruz said Ruskan was “moved to tears” — and it was something that he saw over, and over, and over again as Texans were helping Texans.

“Thank you, everyone, for lifting up Texas and lifting up those parents in prayer,” Cruz said.
