THE CN-END: Musk Says 'CNN is Dying' After Axing X Partnership With Former Anchor Don Lemon

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.15.24

Shortly after a sitdown interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon for a new show on X, Elon Musk decided to cut ties with Lemon, saying he “wanted to do CNN on social media which just doesn’t work.”

“His approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media’, which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying,” Musk told an X user Wednesday. “And, instead of it being the real Don Lemon, it was really just Jeff Zucker talking through Don, so lacked authenticity. All this said, Lemon/Zucker are of course welcome to build their viewership on this platform along with everyone else.”

Musk continued to tee off on Lemon, declaring “CNN is dying.”

“[Lemon] is welcome to monetize on this platform, just like everyone else. What we aren’t going to do is guarantee minimum payments to him, as he was demanding, which would be going beyond everyone else! Unfortunately, all he wants to do is rehash the dying CNN business model ‘but on social media’, which will do even worse here than it did on cable TV.”

Musk also called Lemon a “pompous fool.”

“Elon Musk has canceled the partnership I had with X, which they announced as part of their public commitment to amplifying more diverse voices on their platform. He informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday,” Lemon wrote in a statement posted on social media.
