Florida is facing a teacher shortage —but Governor Ron DeSantis has a plan.
In an announcement posted to Twitter this week, DeSantis shared an initiative to bring veterans into the classroom by issuing temporary certifications while they work towards a degree.
“In Florida, we believe veterans have a wealth of knowledge and experience they can bring to the classroom, so we created a new program to help veterans become teachers. We stand by our veterans and want them in our classrooms.”
“Every morning our students recite the pledge of allegiance while looking at the Star-Spangled Banner. It’s fitting that the teacher in the classroom is somebody who took an oath and put his or her life on the line to preserve, protect and defend our flag and the freedom it represents.”
