The Great One has a great idea…
The Schumer-Manchin Inflation Reduction Act will give $80 billion dollars to the IRS, triggering a hiring spree that will potentially double the agency by 2031.
This initiative is incredibly unpopular with GOP lawmakers and conservative pundits. Fox News host of Life, Liberty & Levin Mark Levin says Republicans should announce a commitment to defund the effort in 2024 if they win both houses and the White House.
“The Republicans should announce NOW that if they win Congress and the presidency in 2024, they will defund those 87,000 IRS agents the Democrats are hiring to threaten, fine, and punish American citizens.”

The idea has the support of a least one prominent GOP voice: Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Other GOP leaders, like Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn, say beefing up the IRS will only hurt small businesses and middle-income Americans: “They passed a bill to spend $80 billion to hire 87,000 new IRS agents. Who are they going to be auditing? Main street businesses – the small businesses in your community.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is also no fan of the idea —she will be voting “no.”
This is what 87,000 new IRS agents gets you — more audits on hardworking Americans.
I will be voting NO on the Democrats’ IRS army of agents! https://t.co/nv9POCUdRm
