President Joe Biden will send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to assist Ukraine in its war with Russia —a reversal of the administration’s initial stance in which they said the tanks wouldn’t be that helpful.

Senior Biden administration officials stress that the tanks won’t arrive for several months. Additionally, the decision to send the tanks pushed Germany to deliver tanks, as well.
“So the tank coalition is formed. Everyone who doubted this could ever happen sees now: for Ukraine and partners impossible is nothing,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dymtro Kuleba tweeted.

Biden’s announcement didn’t go off without a blunder, of course; Joe made mention of “Ukraine’s brutal aggression,” in a flub that raised eyebrows across the internet.
