Seven people were killed and three more injured during a violent terror attack at a synagogue during a Friday prayer service in Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The terrorist opened fire as people were leaving the service; he was killed by security forces while attempting to flee in his car. Early reports say he was a member of Hamas.
From The Jerusalem Post:
One of the attendants of the synagogue said that the police didn’t arrive at the scene for 20 minutes, they didn’t believe the callers and thought the noise came from shots in the air from nearby east Jerusalem neighborhoods.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reported to be receiving updates from the scene and is set to hold a situational assessment later this evening. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai arrived at the scene of the incident shortly after the shooting occurred. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also arrived at the scene.
A 40-year-old woman was confirmed to be among the dead.
Some of the bodies of those killed were have still not been moved from the scene of the crime.
