Disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok’s online fundraiser raked in the cash Tuesday, taking-in over $300,000 less than 24 hours after the DOJ official was abruptly fired from the agency over his anti-Trump text messages.
Strzok’s official GoFundMe website initially hoped to raise $150,000 for the former agent’s “mounting legal fees” and “loss of income” but quickly smashed the financial goal within hours.
As of Tuesday afternoon the fundraising webpage has taken in over $300,000.
“All funds raised on this GoFundMe will be put into a trust dedicated to covering Pete’s hefty — and growing — legal costs and his lost income. The trust is being created and details about its management will be shared here as things progress,” the site said.
Strzok’s attorney confirmed his removal from the agency on Monday, saying the anti-Trump agent was terminated over his political bias late last week.
STRZOK OUT: Peter Strzok FIRED FROM FBI Over Anti-Trump Text Messages
Anti-Trump DOJ official Peter Strzok was reportedly fired from the FBI late last week; ending months of uncertainty surrounding the disgraced FBI agent after his private text messages showed political bias throughout the agency.
“The FBI has fired Agent Peter Strzok, who helped lead the bureau’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election until officials discovered he had been sending anti-Trump texts,” writes the Washington Post.
“Aitan Goelman, Strzok’s lawyer, said FBI Deputy Director David L. Bowdich ordered the firing on Friday — even though the director of the FBI office that normally handles employee discipline had decided Strzok should face only a demotion and 60-day suspension,” adds the author.
“This isn’t the normal process in any way more than name,” Goelman said.
Strzok made national headlines earlier this year when his communications with fellow DOJ official Lisa Page talked of creating an “insurance policy” against a potential Trump administration.
Strzok is a 22-year-veteran at the agency.

ADAM SCHIFF: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Peter Strzok Should Still be at the FBI
Democratic lawmaker Adam Schiff admitted he wasn’t sure if anti-Trump DOJ official Peter Strzok should still be employed by the FBI this week, saying he acted “inappropriately” but didn’t go so far as to call for his removal from the agency.
Schiff was speaking with MSNBC’s host Chuck Todd on Sunday when he was asked if Peter Strzok “should still be with the FBI at this point?”
“I don’t know,” Schiff fired-back. “I imagine that the Office of Professional Responsibility will have to make that decision.”
“Certainly these text messages are troubling,” the congressman added. “The fact that they were on a work email, the fact that they were co-mingled with emails discussing business, all that’s problematic.”
