Environmental protesters in Wolfsburg, Germany glued themselves to the floor of the Porsche pavilion in the Autostadt museum in an attempt to force the German automotive industry to decarbonize —then they realized they didn’t have a bathroom.
“Together with 15 other members of @ScientistRebel1 I have occupied the Porsche pavillion at @Autostadt, 9 of us glued to the floor and some of us on hunger strike until our demands to decarbonise the German transport sector are met,” self-described “experimental economist” Gianluca Grimalda tweeted.
“VW told us that they supported our right to protest, but they refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating. People in support can’t get out of the building,” he complained.

In his video, Grimalda says “Current actions and plans are grossly inadequate, and even these obligations are not being met. The rate of environmental destruction closely tracks economic growth, which leads to us extracting more resources from Earth than are regenerated,” Scientist Rebel states on its website, calling for ‘degrowth of economies’ but assuring living standards will not be affected as the wealthiest of the population will pay for the cost.”
From autoevolution:
Volkswagen provided the activists with meals, but after the business hours ended, it turned off the lights and the heating. The authorities have been notified, and Autostadt’s security employees are reportedly checking in occasionally with the people that are stuck on Porsche’s pavilion floor.
