Tulsi Gabbard submitted her resignation Friday, saying she is stepping away from the Trump Administration after her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
The resignation, first reported by Fox News, is set to take effect June 30.
“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” Gabbard wrote in her resignation letter.
“My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”
Gabbard also thanked President Donald Trump for appointing her to one of the government’s most sensitive national security posts.
“The trust you placed in me” was among the things she said she appreciated in the letter.
