SERIOUSLY? Chicago Mayor Forgives ‘Overdue Library Fees’ to Help Eradicate ‘Generational Poverty’

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.01.19

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is forgiving “overdue library fees” across the city in an effort to eradicate “generational poverty” throughout the nation’s third largest metropolis.

“Like too many Chicagoans, I know what it is like to grow up in financially-challenging circumstances and understand what it is like to be just one bill or one mistake away from crushing debt,” said Lightfoot.

“This is about educating folks, giving them access to learning, having a safe space where people can come and learn,” she claimed, adding the move will end “regressive practices disproportionately impacting those who can least afford it, ensure every Chicagoan can utilize our city’s services and resources, and eliminate the cycles of debt and generational poverty because of a few mistakes.”

The announcement comes as city officials struggle to control the region’s out-of-control gun violence and homicide rate.

Last month, Lightfoot announced her plans to combat gun crime by “trimming trees” and “removing beer cans.”

“All of this was the result of an innovative effort in Chicago to reduce gun violence by beautifying public spaces where shootings are most likely to occur. City leaders have boosted spending on sprucing up streets, vacant lots and public transportation lines, putting Chicago at the forefront of a movement to harness neighborhood beautification initiatives as a prescription for the violence that has cauterized daily life,” reports the Chicago Sun Times.

“This year, Chicago directed $7.4 million to workforce-development programs that put high-risk individuals to work greening areas in neighborhoods with high rates of shootings,” adds the newspaper.

“There is something about physical space that signals whether or not this is an area where crime can happen,” said an assistant professor at the University of Michigan. “This literature goes way back into the 1970s, and there’s a lot of evidence to support it.”

ANTI-ICE: Backlash Builds After Children ‘SMASH’ Piñata Dressed as ICE Agent at Chicago Block Party

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.24.19

A community block party in Chicago is under fire after footage emerged of children attacking a piñata shaped as a federal ICE agent; sparking widespread complaints from members of the law enforcement community.

“The event was organized by a chamber of commerce comprised of over 25 East Side businesses.  A representative said they never would have imaged their event would cause commotion,” reports CBS Chicago. “But one the people behind the group that brought the piñata said they were banking on making a statement during East Side Community Day in Chicago.”

“Some parents were holding their kids to hit the piñata,” said Anthony Martinez of local activist group Los Brown Berets. “We’re just making a statement… Taking children from their parents, separating them.”

Chicago’s progressive Mayor Lori Lightfoot confirmed this week that her city will not comply with any future immigration raids; blocking ICE agents from accessing the police department’s vast databases.

“Chicago is and will always be a welcoming city that will never tolerate ICE tearing our families apart,” said Lightfoot at a press conference Wednesday.

“The Chicago Police Department will not cooperate with ICE. That means that they will not team up with ICE to detain any resident. We’ve also cut off access from ICE to any CPD databases and that will remain permanent,” she added.

Lightfoot joins fellow Democrats in their latest attempt to block the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration across the country.

BUSTED! Chicago Mayor Caught on Hot Mic Calling Police Union Boss ‘A Clown’ at Council Meeting

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.25.19

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot stunned a City Council meeting Wednesday; calling the Fraternal Order of Police boss a “clown” on a hot microphone.

“It’s no secret that Mayor Lightfoot does not get along with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP),” reports Fox News. “However, it was still surprising when, during the City Council meeting, she was caught on a microphone insulting the group’s second in command.”

“Oh, back again, this FOP clown,” said Lightfoot.

Lori Lightfoot weighed-in last weekend on her city’s unprecedented gang violence; blaming nearby Indiana for the flow of guns into the region.

“Previously we had a law enforcement first and only strategy and it wasn’t working. It’s not working when you talk about neighborhoods where the unemployment rate is 25% or higher. It’s not working when you think about the fact that in many communities, 90% or more of residents are depending on public assistance and where neighborhoods haven’t been invested in, where there’s no real legitimate economic activity,” said Lightfoot.

“The fact that you can cross the border, go into Indiana and purchase military-grade weapons at any number with no background check is a terrible thing, not only for a city but look at the devastation that gun violence is wreaking every single day in our community,” she added.

Lightfoot confirmed last week that her city will not comply with any future immigration raids; blocking ICE agents from accessing the police department’s vast databases.
