In an ironic twist, Senate Democrats are launching a platform for whistleblowers whilst the Trump administration has begun digging up the fraud and abuse that has been plaguing the federal government as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has already discovered severe misuse of funds in government agencies.
Senator Chuck Schumer posted early Monday morning on X that he is calling on “brave public servants” to step forward as “whistleblowers to expose corruption and misconduct is essential to preserving the integrity of our democratic institutions.”
In another post, Schumer wrote, “I’m launching a new portal for anyone who wants to expose corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety with the legal protections of being a whistleblower.”
The post links to a page where the whistleblowers can make their report. The portal asks whistleblowers to identify the nature of the complaint as being one for retaliation, wasteful spending, fraud, criminal activity, or other. In this case it appears the DOGE itself is just a tremendous whistleblower and actually taking care of the problems it reports.
It is not clear, however, if whistleblowers wishing to report the government corruption within agencies are also welcome to share their input or not. The portal only addresses whistleblowers being “a vital part of Congressional oversight to hold the administration accountable.”
One X commenter called out the Democrat for the effort writing, “So let me get this straight: You’re actively targeting the people who are targeting the public corruption and your sending out a dog whistle to those committing the corruption under the pretense of caring about the corruption that you’ve turned a blind eye to for decades.”
Another commenter on X also alluded to the folly of Schumer’s post and the Democrats’ portal writing, “I’m amazed you as a party are finally admitting that all of your corruption is being exposed by whistleblowers and that you as a party are owning it, thank you very much!”
A popular meme going around on social media shared by another X user says, “When you’re finding fraud and somebody yells ‘Stop!’ – That’s who’s doing the fraud.”
The hypocrisy is leaving many Americans quite flabbergasted as Democrats are spiraling into panic mode while the Trump administration takes action to fight the corruption within government agencies. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has begun to be exposed for a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars, and President Trump announced that the Department of Education and the Pentagon will soon be checked by the DOGE as well.
