Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono explained her party’s difficulties with connecting to American voters this week; saying left-leaning lawmakers can’t reach people’s hearts and minds because “we know so much” and “how smart we are.”

“One of the things that we as Democrats have a really hard time, is connecting to people’s hearts instead of up here,” said Sen. Hirono, pointing towards her head.
“We need to speak to the heart, not in a manipulative way, not in a way that plays on people’s fears and resentment… We have a hard time doing that, one of the reasons is that the Democrats know so much, which is true. We have to tell everybody how smart we are,” she added.
IRONY ALERT: Sen. Hirono Slams Lindsey Graham's Anti-Hillary ‘WITCH HUNT’
Sen. Mazie Hirono slammed potential Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham Thursday; accusing the GOP legislator of launching an anti-Hillary “witch hunt” should he take control from Sen. Chuck Grassley.
Hirono was speaking with CNN’s Brianna Keiler when she was asked to weigh-in on Graham’s recent comments that he plans to re-open previous Clinton investigations if Democrats double-down on countless probes into President Trump.
“Lindsey Graham is thinking about replacing [Sen. Grassley] and he said he’d immediately call for investigations into Hillary Clinton,” said Keiler.
“The fact that they continue to want to go after Hillary Clinton says to me they are not paying attention to what’s going on in our country,” Hirono said. “This continuing witch hunt for Hillary Clinton… says to me they just keep beating a ‘dead horse.’”
SEN. HIRONO: FBI Must Investigate Kavanaugh ‘Ice Throwing’ Incident from 1980s
Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono called for a thorough FBI investigation into recent allegations that Judge Brett Kavanaugh “threw ice” at an unidentified person during his time in college in the mid-1980s.
Hirono was speaking with CNN when she was asked to comment on new accusations the potential Supreme Court Justice “threw ice in someone’s face during a bar fight when he was in college.”
“I want to ask you about these new developments we found out overnight, these police documents that show that Brett Kavanaugh threw ice in someone’s face during a bar fight when he was in college. Do you feel that is in anyway disqualifying for someone in the Supreme Court?” CNN’s Berman asked.
“This is why we need an FBI investigation, because there are a lot of allegations and the reports really are about how he behaves when he is drunk,” Hirono fired-back. “So that is very relevant. And the portrayal of himself as practically a choir boy is contradicted by his roommate, for example, in high school and people in high school. This is why we need an FBI investigation, why we have been calling for one for what seems like months.”
