Republican members of the House of Representatives will ask Intel Chair Adam Schiff to testify in his ongoing impeachment inquiry; labeling the top Democrat a “fact witness” due to his early involvement in the Ukraine controversy.
“House Republicans plan to call Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff as one of their first witnesses in the impeachment inquiry against President Trump following the adoption of formal rules for the investigation, claiming he is a ‘fact witness’ due to his office’s early involvement with the whistleblower whose complaint sparked the proceedings,” reports Fox News.
“A source familiar with Republicans’ strategy moving forward in the impeachment inquiry confirmed to Fox News on Monday that GOP members plan to call Schiff, D-Calif., for questioning — even if they are unlikely to succeed,” adds Fox.
Democratic members of the House of Representatives approved new legislation last Thursday that formalizes their impeachment inquiry against President Trump; passing the resolution along party lines.
The final vote was 232-196. Two Democrats voted against the investigation.
“A yes vote on this resolution today gives a stamp of approval to a process that has been damaged beyond all repair and a blatant and obvious coup to unseat a sitting president of the United States,” Rep. Ross Spano, R-Fla., said.
“I do not take any pleasure in the need for this resolution,” Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., said. “We are here because the facts compel us to be here.”
“The Greatest Witch Hunt In American History!” posted Trump shortly after the vote.

“With today’s vote, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats have done nothing more than enshrine unacceptable violations of due process into House rules,” said White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham.

COWARDLY CLARIFICATION: Adam Schiff Says the ‘Essence’ of Mueller’s Testimony is that Trump is ‘Unpatriotic’
Rep. Adam Schiff weighed-in on Robert Mueller’s disastrous testimony Thursday afternoon; saying the “essence” of the former special counsel’s testimony is that “the President is unpatriotic.”
Rep. Adam Schiff: "Even though [Robert Mueller] was reluctant, as you can imagine, to provide the soundbite 'the President is immoral, the President is unpatriotic,' that is the essence of what he had to say." pic.twitter.com/tXPvmIA0RS

“He was a reluctant witness… Even though [Robert Mueller] was reluctant, as you can imagine, to provide the soundbite ‘the President is immoral, the President is unpatriotic,’ that is the essence of what he had to say,” clarified Rep. Schiff.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi doubled-down on her Obstruction of Justice accusations against President Trump Wednesday evening; saying the American public “must understand what President Trump is trying to cover up.”
“As we legislate for the good of the American people, we are also investigating to make sure that Americans have the truth and understand the gravity of the threat to our democracy. They must understand what @realDonaldTrump is trying to cover up,” posted Pelosi on social media.

President Trump weighed-in Wednesday on Robert Mueller’s disastrous Congressional testimony; thanking the Democratic Party “for holding this morning’s hearings” and calling Rep. Adam Schiff an “embarrassment to our country.”
“I would like to thank the Democrats for holding this morning’s hearing. Now, after 3 hours, Robert Mueller has to subject himself to #ShiftySchiff – an Embarrassment to our Country!” tweeted Trump.

The New York Post Editorial Board blasted Rep. Jerrold Nadler’s Mueller hearing Wednesday; calling the entire spectacle a “waste of everyone’s time.”
“By all accounts, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler hoped that dragging in former special counsel Bob Mueller for a hearing would jump-start his drive to get going on impeachment. Oops: It was a total waste of time,” writes the Editorial Board. “Mueller made it clear long in advance that he didn’t want to testify, and wouldn’t talk about anything except what was in his report. He even got the Justice Department to issue a guidance instructing him to keep to his preferred limits.”
“What did we learn? Nothing. What’s the impact? Nothing. If Nadler was hoping to get Democrats and their voters energized about impeachment, he’ll surely be disappointed. And we’re no closer to knowing how much this long investigation relied on opposition research by Hillary Clinton and dirty tricks by intelligence operatives appalled by Donald Trump,” adds the Post.
DEVELOPING: Rep. Gaetz, GOP Lawmakers ‘Storm’ Closed-Door Impeachment Hearings
Republican legislators stormed a “closed-door” meeting on impeaching President Trump Wednesday; staging a “sit-in” to protest Democrats’ latest efforts to remove the Commander-in-Chief from office.
“House Republicans led by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., on Wednesday essentially stormed a closed-door session connected to the impeachment investigation of President Trump, prompting House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff to suspend the proceedings in a remarkable scene,” reports Fox News.
“We’re going to try and go in there, and we’re going to try to figure out what’s going on, on behalf of the millions of Americans that we represent that want to see this Congress working for them and not obsess with attacking a president who we believe has not done anything to deserve impeachment,” Gaetz said.
“What is Adam Schiff trying to hide?” asked House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La. “I think that’s the question so many people have, so many of my colleagues have, so many people in the press should have.”
