SCHIFF FLIPS: Adam Schiff WITHDRAWS Endorsement of LA District Attorney Over George Floyd Protests

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.22.20

Rep. Adam Schiff abruptly withdrew his endorsement of Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey this week; citing the ongoing protests in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in police custody.

“This is a rare time in our nation’s history. We have a responsibility to make profound changes to end systemic racism & reform criminal justice,” Schiff tweeted Saturday.

“As the first African-American woman to hold the LA County D.A.’s office, I am proud of my record of taking on systemic racism and reforming criminal justice — from bail reform, to reducing juvenile cases by nearly 50 percent, to increasing our office’s focus on mental health treatment instead of incarceration,” Lacey told the newspaper. “I am singularly focused on doing the work of the people of LA County during this time of crisis.”

“Lacey apologized earlier this year after her husband allegedly pointed a gun at about 50 Black Lives Matter demonstrators and threatened to shoot them for showing up to their Los Angeles home before dawn,” reports Fox News.

CHAOS LA: Los Angeles City Council Proposes ‘Unarmed Social Workers’ Instead of LAPD for Emergencies

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.22.20

Members of the Los Angeles City Council left millions of concerned citizens scratching their heads this week; urging first responders to deploy “Unarmed Social Workers” instead of police officers for some emergencies.

“Los Angeles City Council members believe they have an answer to minimize deaths at the hands of LAPD officers. Have unarmed mental health workers deal with the people instead. The proposal is an emergency-response model using trained ‘specialists’ instead of LAPD officers to attend those who are suffering from mental health and substance abuse, including the homeless,” reports TheGreggJarrett.com.

“Submitted by City Council members Nury Martinez, Herb Wesson, Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Curren Price and Bob Blumenfield, the motion “asks city departments to work with the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority to develop a model that diverts nonviolent calls for service away from the LAPD and to ‘appropriate non-law enforcement agencies” reported the Los Angeles Times,” adds the website.
