According to a report from The New York Post, author Salman Rushdie was attacked and possibly stabbed on stage during a literary event in upstate New York; he was attacked shortly after his introcution.
“The man proceeded to punch or stab Rushdie, who was scheduled to talk at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N.Y., some 75 miles south of Buffalo,” the Post reports.
“Rushdie’s work earned him death threats from the Iranian government in the 1980s, and his book “The Satanic Verses” was banned in the country in 1988,” the Post adds.
