The United States military will begin withdrawing troops from Syria in the coming days; with White House officials confirming they have “started returning” soldiers home after President Trump declared ISIS has largely been “defeated.”
“We have started returning United States troops home as we transition to the next phase of this campaign,” said White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“Five years ago, ISIS was a very powerful and dangerous force in the Middle East, and now the United States has defeated the territorial caliphate,” Sanders added. “These victories over ISIS in Syria do not signal the end of the Global Coalition or its campaign.”
The President praised the military campaign against the Islamic State on social media Wednesday morning, saying “We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.”

ISIS AMONG US: Former Indiana Resident Charged with ‘SUPPORTING’ the Islamic State
A former Indiana resident was charged with supporting the Islamic State Thursday, with Department of Justice officials confirming the woman aided the terror network between 2014 and 2015.
According to the Washington Examiner, Samantha Elhassani was charged with “conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State and helping provide material support to the terrorist organization.”
“My office is committed to aggressively pursuing and prosecuting those who support designated terrorist organizations such as ISIS,” said U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch. “This indictment is an example of that commitment. The indictment alleges that Elhassani traveled abroad and provided funds and supplies for use by two ISIS fighters. The seriousness of the charges reflect the gravity of Elhassani’s alleged conduct.”
“The charges against Ms. Elhassani illustrate that actions of providing support to ISIS have serious consequences, and should serve as a reminder to American citizens that providing assistance to terrorist organizations or individuals aligned with terrorist entities will not be tolerated,” added the FBI.

BOILING POINT: Syria Threatens ISRAEL with ‘Surprise’ Attacks
Bashar al-Assad’s brutal regime issued a direct threat to Israel on Tuesday, warning the region’s only democracy of “more surprises” should their air force continue to operate over Syrian territory, reports Reuters.
The threat comes just days after the Syrian military -armed with equipment from Iran- shot down an Israel F16 fighter jet; prompting a fierce response from the Israeli military which immediately destroyed the anti-air battery.
“Have full confidence the aggressor will be greatly surprised because it thought this war – this war of attrition Syria has been exposed to for years – had made it incapable of confronting attacks,” said Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Sussan.
“God willing, they will see more surprises whenever they try to attack Syria,” he added.
Syria’s direct threat follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s tough talk towards both the Iranian and Syrian regime; saying, “We will continue to harm anyone who tries to harm us. This was our policy and this will remain our policy.”
