The employee union behind the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency claimed the mayor of Portland created a “zone of terror” around the department’s offices this week; adding he turned control of the city over to an “angry mob.”
National ICE Council President Chris Crane unloaded on Portland, Oregon Mayor Ted Wheeler Monday, accusing the local politician of putting the lives of ICE agents at risk to promote a political agenda.
“The mayor stated publicly that he supported the protests, which were supposed to be about protecting immigrant families. But what about the moms and dads that we had working in that building? What about their kids?” asked Crane.
“These are questions that we’ll be expecting the mayor and city of Portland to be answering in the days to come,” he added.
“For now, a handful of ICE officers and staff are taking this mayor and city on all by ourselves,” Crane said. “We’ll fight alone for the rule of law and safety of our employees nationwide if that’s what it takes, but someone on our side would be a welcome change moving forward.”

WEST COAST CHAOS: Portland Police IGNORE 9-11 Call from ICE AGENTS
Local authorities in Portland, Oregon came under fire from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency this week; reportedly ignoring multiple emergency phone calls from ICE agents as violent protests swirled outside their offices.
According to the Daily Caller, the union representing ICE agents filed a formal complaint against Mayor Ted Wheeler, demanding the local leader instruct his police department to “equally enforce the law.”
“Your current policy forbidding Portland law enforcement agencies from assisting employees of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency who request law enforcement assistance while at or away from work is a violation of the United States Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause,” said the letter from the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council.
“No one could have responded quickly enough to protect our employees who were trapped inside this building. All of this because the Mayor of Portland has a beef with the president of the United States,” added union president Chris Crane.
“We ask that you end your policy of not responding to calls for police services from ICE employees immediately,” adds the letter. “We would like to avoid federal litigation, but we are prepared to protect our membership and their families.”

Meanwhile, the Portland Police Bureau has cordoned off the site, calling it a biohazard,” writes Fox News. “Activists set up the camp near the local office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after an outcry over the agency’s crackdown on illegal immigrants.”

“It was pretty disgusting that that’s how they were living back there. Getting tired of waking up to the bullhorn and the sounds and the cussing,” added a man who resides next to the camp.
